About the poetry evening

YMCA POETRY EVENING
Glenwood, UKZN, Howard College campus, South Africa
Yaa Maan it an open mic evening. Whoever wants to recite or do something get his/her name jotted down and wait for his/her name to be called ...and the rest is history the podium is all yours. YMCA is a venue at Howard College. From Jubillee Hall walk as if you are heading to Francois Rd. where there are food outlets such as KFC and Nandos. Follow the fence that surrenders Ernst Jansen Residence and by the end of the fence where there is a CRIME FREE ZONE notice is where YMCA (Student Y Center) is. If this is impossible ask for direction homie

IN THE NEWS

Note that the poetry evening have shifted from Thursdays to Wednesdays. Nevertheless it still same time, same place.

The YMCA poetry evening wishes to pass its voice of appreciation to all comedians and poets who featured in a show that emphasised a link between DUT, Westville and Howard College poetry which took place outside SU building on Thursday, the 15th of May 2008.

The show featured matured poets such as Mxolisi Mtshali, Siyabonga Sikhakhane and Imbongi yama-Afrika to mention a few.
Also big thanks of appreciation from comedians of Amawele aseChesterville and Mondli Mzizi calibre.

Well done to the committee for organising such a great showcase ... without their collaborating brains the show would not have been a success.

Hi
I'm a poet but I cannot attend the sessions. Why is that these sessions cater for those living at res and those with cars? why is that there is never an advertisement of sessions convenient for everyone to attend? there are a lot of artists that I know who would love to be part of the open mic sessions but now that impossible with the time that has been set. if it is possible next time please allocate a time whereby everyone is welcome. when its in the evening then there are people that are not welcomed.

Thank You
